This video is a few years old, but it does a great job explaining the
algorithmic ways in which information on the Internet is personalized
for us. . .is this good or bad? What do you think about this?
This video was a reminder of how controlled our lives are by others. I guess this is why I don't really trust the internet and is still a visitor and not a resident. I want to live in a place that allows me free access to whatever I choose to seek out. It's scary to think that the "gatekeepers" get to determine what I see or hear on the web. I thought the web was created to bring people and ideas together not limit them. I love learning about people, places and ideas different from my own. This helps me to understand other peoples perspective on the world. In short, they are limiting my access to knowledge. I think this type of personalization is bad for internet users looking to know more about the world and all things it has to offer.
